At the founding of the Movement in 1916 the first Chairman
as provided for by the Constitution was Adam Idowu Yakub.
He held the post from 1916 - 1919, but when the Constitution
was amended for the head of the Movement to be styled as President.
The first person to hold the post of the President was Brother
M. L. B. Agusto.
After the resignation of M. L. B. Agusto in 1920, Brother
Adam Idowu Yakub came back as President from 1920 - 1930.
It was during his Presidency that the first Muslim Primary
School the Talimul Islam Ahmadiyya Primary School was established
in September, 1922 situated at Elegbeta, Lagos.
It is on record that the School really started at 37, Arolaya
Street, Lagos before it was later transferred to Elegbeta
on a piece of land the Lease of which was granted to the Movement
by the Colonial Government for the purpose of building Primary
Schools for boys and girls under
and by virtue of the INDENTURE dated the 20th August, 1923.
It is also to be recorded for posterity that it was during
his presidency that Missions outside Lagos started with Epe
and Ijebu - Ode established in 1921 and Ijede in 1924.
