The first constitution of the Movement made in 1916 provided
for a Chairman as head of the
Movement.
This was later amended in 1919 by which provision was made
for a President as head of the Movement.
Since then there had been other Amendments.
Before the Registration of the Movement under the Land (Perpetual
Succession) Act Cap 98 on the 8th October 1935 a new constitution
was made, adopted and passed on 31st July 1934.
The Constitution made in 1934 was revised on 24th March 1963
followed by a Second Revision
passed on l3th December 1992 which is the current Constitution
that guides the activities of the
Movement.
Hereunder the first Eight Articles of the 111 Articles of
the present Constitution with the form of Application for
membership.

NAME
|
|
| The Anwar - ul Islam Brotherhood shall
be known and called "AN WAR - UL ISLAM MOVEMENT
OF NIGERIA" hereafter called "The Movement". |

DEFINITION
|
|
| The Anwar - ul Islam Movement of Nigeria
as a spiritual revival in Islam is not the name
of a religion but of a body of Muslims who for the
moral, social, religious and spiritual reformation
of the Muslims in particular and the World in general,
banded themselves together at the behest of Allah,
the most high to order and live their in accordance
with the ideals of Islam the holy Qu'ran and the
Sunnat or practices of the Holy prophet Mohammed
(P. B. 0. H) |

AIMS AND
OBJECTS
|
|
The aims and objects of the Movement
are:-
(a) To practice, teach and propagate
the religion of Islam as laid down in the Holy
Quran and the authentic Sunnat or practices of
Holy Prophet Mohammed (P. B. 0. H) and for that
purpose to establish Mosque and institutions from
time to time and in such places within and outside
Nigeria as the National Executive Council may
decide.
(b) To reform the Muslim world spiritual morally,
socially and intellectually
(c) To promote Islamic and secular education through
the establishment of Schools and educational institutions.
(d) To purchase, take, on - lease, or otherwise
acquire and develop property for the purpose of
the Movement and to sell, let on lease or otherwise
dispose of or grant rights over any property belonging
to the Movement.
(e) To do any other thing that may be necessary
towards the attainment of the above objectives.

MEMBERSHIP
|
|
Membership of the Movement is open
to all Muslim, provide that any Muslim intending
to
become a member shall comply with the conditions
for membership as hereinafter stipulated.
(a) A prospective member shall apply
for membership in a prescribed form in Appendix
V of this Constitution, obtainable at the Headquarters
Secretariat or from the Secretariat of any Mission
or Division.
(b) An applicant must be sponsored by one financial
member of the Movement who shall endorse the application
form to that effect.
(c) An applicant who has complied with the above
requirement shall be admitted to the Movement
by swearing to a declaration or Bai'at (as in
Appendix I) to be administered by the National
Chief Imam/Missioner or the Chief Imam or Imam
of the Mission as the case may be.
(d) Notwithstanding, the provisions of article
4 a-c, all persons born into the Movement shall
automatically become eligible for membership provided
that if such person later renounces the Movement
he shall be required to sign a Bai'at if he decides
to return to the Movement

| 5. All
members of the Movement shall adhere to: |
(a) Condition of Bai'at (Appendix I)
(b) Article of faith of the Movement (Appendix
II) and must submit themselves to and comply
with all decisions of and directives issues
by the National Executive Council.

HEAD OF THE
MOVEMENT
|

| The President shall be the Head of
the Movement. |
| 7. |
HEADQUARTERS
OF THE MOVEMENT
|
|
| The Headquarters of the Movement shall
be at Lagos. |
| 8. |
GOVERNMENT
OF THE MOVEMENT
|
|
| The government, control and management
of the Movement shall be vested in the National
Executive Council. |
