and reputable general merchant of Docemo Street, Lagos and
Madam Rabiatu Oyenubi May Almighty Allah grant their souls
domicile in the garden of bliss (Ameen).

who was a student of Saka Tinubu
Memorial Alimadiyya High School, in December 1954, he joined
the then Ahmadiyya
Movement in Islam as a member, as he was convinced that the
organisation was modeled
towards the realization of excellent Islamic civilization.
Alhaji Oyenubi attended the Quran & Arabic School at
Ikorodu where he graduated in 1946, under the Late Alhaji
Gafar Morenikeji - a former Chief Imam of Anwar - ul Islam
Movement of Nigeria, Ikorodu.
In 1990, he was nominated into the National Executive Council
of Anwar -ul Islam and elected as the Vice - President to
Alhaji K. 0. Tinubu from 1990 - 1993. He repeated the feat
in 1994 as the Vice - President for another four years term.
During the two terms in office, he served creditably well
as the Chairman of Property Committee and the Chairman of
Conference Committee. He often traveled out to Missions outside
Lagos to represent the President at some of the event of the
Movement.
It is significant to note that is was during Alhaji Oyenubi's
tenure as Conference Committee
Chairman that the committee recommended the Merit Award Honour
to the National Executive
Council of the Movement and this led to the first award ceremony
in 1991, and the second
ceremony in 1996.
The award was introduced to accord deserving Members of the
Movement and respectable Muslims, due recognition for hardwork,
devotion and dedication, high performance and to institutionalise
Islamic consciousness and excellence in serving the Movement
in particular, and the cause and course of Islam in general.
Alhaji Oyenubi was elected unopposed as the President of
the Movement for a term of four years, 1997 to 2001 which
has just expired. He has made efforts to promote the spirit
of hardwork on the part of our Missions through donations
of Trophy for the best Mission of the year. Oyo Mission won
the trophy in 1998, Ikorodu Mission in 1999, and Iseyin Mission
clinched the trophy in 2000.
Alhaji Oyenubi's administration introduced in 1999 the publication
of"AL - ANWAR" - a quarterly religious magazine
of Anwar - ul Islam Movement of Nigeria. Report has it that
the magazine has become popular in that it is gaining prominence,
as it is being sent abroad to our members in the United Kingdom,
the United State of America and Canada.
During is tenure as President, the Movement turbanned Chief
Imams and Imams in Benin Mission and Port Harcourt Mission,
Chief Imam for Iju Mission and also Chief Imam of Sokoto Mission.
It is on record that during his tenure, the Movement held
a reception Duai to mark the appointment of our Brothers &
Sisters in Islam to exalted positions as Court Judges and
Commissioners, and into various positions at the Federal and
State levels. An innovation peculiar to his Presidency is
the introduction of monthly birthday Duai for Elders and Members
of the Movement which helped in bringing together members
of the Movement and their families who are within and outside
our fold.
One should mention that efforts have been made during his
tenure to improve and modernise the National Secretariat with
the acquisition of a computer and all it takes to embrace
the information technology, The Movement has acquired an e-mail
address registered with hotmail.com and very soon will acquire
a website to be able to launch the Movement into the Arab
world for the numerous advantages the Movement would be able
to derive by such contacts.
