The eight President of the Movement Alhaji K. 0. Tinubu came
into office in January 1990.
Under him, the Movement has made remarkable progress in the
South - West Kwara and Northern Zones and part of Lagos culminating
in the establishment of new Missions in: - Tede, Otu, Igbo
Oloson, Ipapo, Offa, Abeokuta, Ogijo, Kagara, Yauri, Funtua
and Birnin Kebbi.
The imposing Iseyin Mission's Central Mosque and that of Ikorodu
were opened in 1990 and 1994 respectively. There are other
Mosques under construction by other Missions to which he has
made valuable contributions.
He facilitated the turbaning of three leading Imams, Imam
Suleiman Ibrahim of Mushin Mission, Gafar Adewuyi of Ikorodu
Mission and Nosirudeen Salaudeen of Mainland Mission. Several
other Imams were turbaned during his tenure.
Alhaji Tinubu's efforts helped greatly in curtailing the
activities of trespassers on the Movement's land at Agege.

Alhaji Tinubu looked into Property Development as a viable
option for revenue generation. The Property at Elegbata was
reconstructed and renovated on contractor finance basis. He
raised money internally to complete four flats at Eric Manuel,
Surulere from which the history of the Movement now earns
substantial revenue, For the first time in the history of
the Movement a befitting residential quarters was provided
to accommodate the National Chief Imam, other Imams in the
past had either lived in their homes or rented apartments.
Between 1993 and now, two other flats were completed.
As a practicing Solicitor and Advocate, Alhaji Tinubu has
willingly made his services available to the Movement and
has conducted and appeared in many cases involving the Movement
free of charge. Under his administration, the 1963 Constitution
was reviewed giving way to the 1994 Constitution.
Alhaji Tinubu has to be given credits for the gain made by
the Movement through the activities of his wife particularly
in the Women's League.
For many years, Alhaji Tinubu has made substantial monetary
and material donations to the
Movement in all departments. He has been closely associated
with the activities of the Muslim
Ummah generally and the Lagos Community in particular. He
is a member of Crescent Bearers,
and an active participant in the activities of the Supreme
Council for Islamic Affairs and the
Committee of Heads of Muslim Organisations.
It is to the credit of K. 0. Tinubu that this merit Award
was introduced by his administration.
