The eight President of the Movement Alhaji K. 0. Tinubu came into office in January 1990.

Under him, the Movement has made remarkable progress in the South - West Kwara and Northern Zones and part of Lagos culminating in the establishment of new Missions in: - Tede, Otu, Igbo Oloson, Ipapo, Offa, Abeokuta, Ogijo, Kagara, Yauri, Funtua and Birnin Kebbi.

The imposing Iseyin Mission's Central Mosque and that of Ikorodu were opened in 1990 and 1994 respectively. There are other Mosques under construction by other Missions to which he has made valuable contributions.

He facilitated the turbaning of three leading Imams, Imam Suleiman Ibrahim of Mushin Mission, Gafar Adewuyi of Ikorodu Mission and Nosirudeen Salaudeen of Mainland Mission. Several other Imams were turbaned during his tenure.

Alhaji Tinubu's efforts helped greatly in curtailing the activities of trespassers on the Movement's land at Agege. Handicapped by a lean purse.

Alhaji Tinubu looked into Property Development as a viable option for revenue generation. The Property at Elegbata was reconstructed and renovated on contractor finance basis. He raised money internally to complete four flats at Eric Manuel, Surulere from which the history of the Movement now earns substantial revenue, For the first time in the history of the Movement a befitting residential quarters was provided to accommodate the National Chief Imam, other Imams in the past had either lived in their homes or rented apartments. Between 1993 and now, two other flats were completed.

As a practicing Solicitor and Advocate, Alhaji Tinubu has willingly made his services available to the Movement and has conducted and appeared in many cases involving the Movement free of charge. Under his administration, the 1963 Constitution was reviewed giving way to the 1994 Constitution.

Alhaji Tinubu has to be given credits for the gain made by the Movement through the activities of his wife particularly in the Women's League.

For many years, Alhaji Tinubu has made substantial monetary and material donations to the
Movement in all departments. He has been closely associated with the activities of the Muslim
Ummah generally and the Lagos Community in particular. He is a member of Crescent Bearers,
and an active participant in the activities of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the
Committee of Heads of Muslim Organisations.

It is to the credit of K. 0. Tinubu that this merit Award was introduced by his administration.
